Foundation support spans more than a decade
MIAMI, FL, June 17, 2010 - Interval International and participating resort affiliates continued their financial support of tourism education with a $15,000 donation to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Foundation. Neil Kolton, director of resort sales and service for the Caribbean and Florida, Interval International, presented the check to Hugh Riley, secretary general of CTO, and Jacqueline Johnson, chairman of the foundation, during Caribbean Week in New York City. The latest contribution underscores the ongoing commitment of Interval and its resort affiliates to the foundation. Over the past 11 years, they have funded $190,000 in scholarships and study grants for Caribbean nationals.
“We are very grateful for the generosity of the many vacation ownership resorts located throughout the region that have participated in this very worthwhile initiative. Their donations have had a positive long-term impact on the lives and careers of the scholarship recipients,” Kolton said.
“Our organization is very appreciative of the role that Interval and its member resorts play in assisting the foundation to provide scholarships to Caribbean nationals who are pursuing hospitality and tourism studies,” commented Riley. “Education is critical to the growth and sustainability of the tourism sector that employs millions and makes such a significant impact on our regional economies.”
“The CTO Foundation depends on the goodwill of responsible corporate citizens like these to realize its mission,” noted Johnson. “We commend their efforts in sponsoring the professional development of individuals who demonstrate high levels of achievement and express a strong interest in making a positive contribution to Caribbean tourism.”
