INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL NAMES RALPH FIOL DIRECTOR OF APPLICATION SERVICES
MIAMI, FL, December 2, 2003 – Interval International, a leading global vacation exchange company, today announced the promotion of Ralph Fiol to the position of director of application services, Information Technology. Mr. Fiol will report to David Valdes, vice president of Application Services for Interval International. In his new position, he will direct the overall development and architecture of Interval’s Internet e-commerce applications and Web sites. Previous to assuming his current position, Mr. Fiol was manager of Internet development.
"Since he joined the company, Ralph has played an integral part in the development and implementation of our e-commerce applications," said Valdes . " His knowledge and experience will be significant assets to our department as we continue to grow our e-commerce business."
Hired in April 2001 as a team leader for the Internet Development Group, Mr. Fiol and his group have been responsible for implementing core business functions on Interval’s member Web site. They also designed and implemented a J2EE framework to support Interval’s online operations, third-party branded sites, and B2B systems.
Before joining Interval, Mr. Fiol was a partner and a co-founder of ActiveTier Technologies, Inc., and prior to that, he was the president of Media XXI Group Corporation. He began his IT career as a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in New York City. Mr. Fiol was a member of the consulting division specializing in application development.
He is a certified developer and instructor for Smalltalk, PowerBuilder, and ColdFusion. Mr. Fiol has published numerous articles on C++, PowerBuilder, ColdFusion, and Smalltalk, and is an author of a C++ book from Wrox Press titled Visual C++ 4 MasterClass. Mr. Fiol is a graduate of the University of Florida, is married, and has twin sons.
