INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL AND PARTICIPATING RESORT PARTNERS 

DONATE $50,000 TOWARD CARIBBEAN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Miami, FL, January 13, 2014 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services, and its participating member resorts recently made a $50,000 donation to the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF). Neil Kolton, Interval’s director of resort sales and service for the Caribbean and Florida, presented the check to foundation executives during the opening ceremony of Caribbean Travel Marketplace. 

“Interval and its resort partners have been among our most consistent contributors through the years and we are very grateful for their commitment to the foundation,” said Richard S. Kahn, chairman of CHTAEF. “Supporting the region’s tourism and hospitality talent ensures that future leaders are developed and creates a stronger industry as a result.”

“The motivation to launch a fundraising effort for this worthwhile cause originated from our desire to help young people further their education to advance their career. We are proud to say that working with our member resorts we have been able to exceed our expectations and become the largest private-sector contributor to the foundation,” said Kolton.

Nearly 50 resorts across 14 countries made donations to this year’s fundraising efforts, including:

The CHTAEF was established in 1987 as a non-profit/tax-exempt organization through which scholarships and special assistance would be made available for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing careers in tourism. As part of its mission, it provides people throughout the region with an awareness of the industry’s varied career opportunities, as well as technical and professional development. To date, the Foundation has awarded US$1.7 million in scholarships and grants to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to the hotel and tourism industry.
