MIAMI, FL, May 6, 2011 – Interval International, a leading global provider of vacation services, is a patron sponsor of the 15th Annual Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC), which will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Jamaica on May 10 to 12. Created by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization, CHTIC brings together hoteliers, tourism officials, developers, and lenders to discuss and plan investment strategies for the region.

David C. Gilbert, Interval’s executive vice president of resort sales and marketing, noted “As we are all aware, the hospitality and tourism industries are vital to employment and economic growth in the Caribbean. Through our participation in this conference, we hope to encourage dialogue that will further educate attendees about the important role that shared ownership can play in industry growth.”

In addition to its sponsorship, Craig M. Nash, chairman, president, and CEO of Interval Leisure Group, will participate in “The Hospitality Leader’s Forum” and David Callaghan, vice president, resort sales and service, Interval International, will be a panelist on the “Shared Ownership – Applications and Opportunities for a Revitalized Caribbean Tourism Product” session.

“This event is the single most important forum for key players to network and talk about new investment opportunities in the region. Our association is very appreciative of Interval’s meaningful contributions to the ongoing success of this conference,” said Alec Sanguinetti, director general and CEO of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association.

The Caribbean has proven to be a very popular destination for prospective timeshare purchasers of the vacation ownership product. According to the Shared Ownership 2010: A Market Perspective, the Caribbean is the preferred international destination among U.S. leisure travelers interested in visiting destinations outside the continental United States. The study offers unique insights into the evolving product, vacation habits, preferences, and intentions of U.S. leisure travelers who are interested in acquiring some form of shared ownership in the next two years.
