INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL HOSTS SUCCESSFUL
SHARED OWNERSHIP INVESTMENT CONFERENCES
IN SOUTH AFRICA
London, 10 July 2012 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), recently concluded its second round of Shared Ownership Investment Conferences in South Africa, educating attendees about resort development opportunities within the region, and providing updates on global vacation trends. The conferences were co-sponsored by Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs (ENS), Africa’s largest law firm, and conducted in its Cape Town and Johannesburg offices.
“Working with our key partners in this thriving destination, we were able to showcase the potential of shared ownership to prospective entrants,” said Darren Ettridge, Interval’s senior vice president of resort sales and business development for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia. “We are committed to the growth of the industry in Southern Africa because it has a positive impact on tourism, and these conferences are an excellent way of getting the message across.”
In addition to Ettridge, conference leaders included Deon Viljeon, director of operations for Southern Sun Resorts, who provided the keynote address; Robert Gad, director of the ENS Tax Department; Jon Kilroe-Smith, general manager of Club Mykonos Resorts; Melanie Hatjigiannakis, public relations and marketing officer of the Vacation Ownership Association of South Africa (VOASA); Brian Stocks, chairman of Sun International Vacation Club; Peter Pienaar, general manager, Southern Sun Resorts SunSwop; and Jackie Bauermeister and Dirk Wilson, business development managers, Central and Southern Africa for Interval International.
Delegates learned about successful sales, marketing, and lead generation strategies through interactive Q&A sessions, as well as resort operations from the impressive roster of speakers. A panel of experts also led a discussion on the “Real Deal,” a case study that illustrated how to take a project from conception to the marketplace.
Participants from across Southern Africa included hoteliers, real estate and property developers, finance representatives, and officials from government sectors.
Since Interval established the educational workshops in 1998, conferences have been held in numerous locations around the world. The next event will be held in Orlando, Florida, from 18-20 September 2012.
